President Raymond Kilthau's Vlog
06 October 2009
Hi again!

I am making another announcement to our community.  I want to inform you that our executive board has approved an action plan.  I will show you the list of actions that we are planning to follow up on in the next two years.  Please remember we will also add new projects to our action plan as we approve each project.

Please remember to check our website from time to time.

Now here is an update on the status of each action.

The first action will be a retreat for our executive committee and board of representatives.
We think it will be the best way for our board to get together in order to understand our roles.  We discussed this action last Tuesday at our board of representatives meeting.

The second action will be revisions to our bylaws.
Our goal is to get the revisions adopted in early 2010.  Our vice president is working on the bylaws with our bylaws committee.  Our committee met last Wednesday to go through the bylaws.  We will plan to meet every Friday, beginning 9 October.  If you want to know where and at what time our bylaws committee will meet, you can look at our website,  www.cadeaf.org.  Our vice president will plan to give her vlog on the bylaws changes when we are completed with our work.

The third action will be announcements through videologs on the CAD vlog.
As you may be aware, we started this recently.  We plan to continue this vlog often so that we can open up communication between the board and the community.

The fourth action will be the relocation of CAD’s home office.
We are in negotiations with our current landlord, Silent Athletic Club of Denver (SAC), to see if we want to continue leasing this space.  Our executive committee met with them last week to negotiate the new lease.  We also plan to negotiate the lease with Rocky Mountain Deaf School (RMDS).  Our executive committee plans to meet with them soon to negotiate.  Our executive committee will propose the leases options to our board of representatives this coming 4 November.

The fifth action will be to resume the Deaf Coloradan Newsletter.
Our executive committee appointed David Anthony as our editor.  The deadline to submit articles to him will be the first day of each month.  We will plan to release the newsletter on the 15th of each month via www.cadeaf.org.  If there are members who do not have access to the internet, they may request a hard copy of the newsletter to be mailed to them.  To do so, please contact our editor.

The sixth action will be to prepare for the Town Hall Meetings.
We will plan to have Town Hall Meetings in different cities.  Our board of representatives will help us to prepare for the town hall meetings.  These will provide a good opportunity for our members to meet our board of representatives.  The announcement of the Town Hall meetings will be posted on our website.

The seventh action will be fundraising.
Our treasurer is planning to meet with our financial committee (you can view members’ names on our website) to prepare next year’s budget.  Once we review the big picture, we will start to prepare for fundraising.  We are considering contacting Water World to see if they can give us discount tickets that we can sell to our community next year.   We may also prepare a benefit dinner to help in the raising of funds.  More announcements on fundraising efforts will be announced via our vlogs.  Finally, our treasurer will produce his audited financial report via vlog.

The eighth and ninth actions will be to host workshops and to provide adult basic education.
We are waiting to hear an announcement from the Colorado Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CCDHH) in terms of a timeframe for submitting the mini-grants applications.  We plan to apply for mini-grants to host the workshops and adult basic education.

Our board has approved the dates and times for subsequent meetings.  When the meeting sites are determined, we will announce them to members.  We have already posted the dates of our board meetings on our website,   www.cadeaf.org.

If you are not a current CAD member, please consider joining today!

If you have any questions, concerns or comments, please feel free to contact me via my email address.

I look forward to making additional announcements soon.  Keep your eyes peeled on our website.

20 September 2009 - Introduction

Hello!

I am Raymond Kilthau, the new Colorado Association of the Deaf
president.... On 12 September 2009, members met in Loveland for the
statewide conference and elected new officers.
Now, I’ll announce them --

The president is myself, Raymond Kilthau;  vice president, Julie Moers;
secretary, Noel Rivera; and treasurer, Glenn Wolfangle.

The six regional representatives who are on our board:  Dinosaur Country, Patrick Carton; Mesa Verde, Heidi Zimmer; Mile High, Martina Milan;  and Pawnee Grasslands, Eldon Ragland.

Unfortunately we could not find two candidates at our meeting, so we need your help in naming possible candidates for two regions: Sand Dunes and Great Plains.   You can check on our website,<cadeaf.org>, for the counties in these two regions and counties.

Now, what’s next?  We want to express our appreciation and thanks to our sponsors:  Sprint, Silent Coors, and Watkins.  Without their support, our conference may not have been as successful.

Before I forget, I want to let you know my e-mail address [NOTE: Disregard address on vlog;  the correct address is now]: <president@cadeaf.org>.

Even though we’ll vlog from time to time, between vlogs, you can check the CAD website.  Now I’ll close my vlog.  Again, thanks for viewing our vlog!
