  • Communicate with agencies or schools

  • Educate them on ADA, ASL access, and communication rights

  • Help you draft letters or complaints

  • Join meetings when appropriate

  • Connect you with appropriate resources

CAD can't do: 

  • Provide emergency rescue

  • Provide legal representation

  • Replace licensed interpreters

  • Force agencies to act immediately

  • Mediate personal disputes (family, relationship, roommate, etc.)

  • Manage long-term casework if it is outside of Deaf civil rights
