About the CAD Board
Purpose
Championing Deaf Rights
CAD preserves, protects, and promotes the civil, human, and linguistic rights of Deaf Coloradans, with ASL at the center of culture and community. Directors help guide statewide advocacy, policy, programs, and community accountability.
Eligibility Requirement
Standards for Board Service
To qualify for Board service, applicants must:

Be 18 years or older

Be a Colorado resident
-
Commit to CAD’s ASL-centric mission
-
Disclose conflicts of interest annually
-
Uphold fiduciary duties: care, loyalty, obedience
-
Support transparency and community access
At least 51% of the Board must be Deaf.
Board Responsibilities
Lead, Commit, Engage, Uphold
-
Serve a 2-year term
-
Attend 6+ meetings per year
-
Have no more than 3 unexcused absences
-
Participate in committees and evaluations
-
Review finances, policies, and community reports
-
Support DEI and statewide Deaf community engagement
